Calcium Citrate Supplement supplies 500 mg of elemental calcium from calcium citrate in each serving of two tablets. The citrate form of calcium provides superior absorption.

For strong bones, proper levels of calcium, along with weight-bearing exercise, are a must. A calcium citrate supplement is a great solution when a diet doesn't provide optimal calcium levels. In addition, research indicates long-term, daily calcium intake is required for optimal bone health.

While Cooper Clinic recommends calcium consumption through food, it is often difficult to consistently reach this optimal level. When diet alone is not enough, augment with Cooper Complete® Calcium Citrate supplements. Each tablet provides 250 mg calcium citrate. Based on your age, Cooper Clinic recommends the following daily calcium intake:

  • Women 19-50 years: 1,000 mg
  • Women 51 and older: 1,200 mg
  • Men 19-70 years: 1,000 mg
  • Men 71+ years: 1,200 mg

As part of a healthy diet, strive to include two to four servings of low-fat and non-fat dairy per day through food sources. In addition to dairy, calcium is found in soybeans, enriched grains, and dark leafy greens such as spinach, kale, turnips, and collard greens. There are also many calcium-fortified foods in grocery stores - everything from orange juice to English muffins. Calcium is best absorbed when taken in amounts of 500-600 mg or less. To give you a frame of reference, 300 mg of calcium are in one cup of non-fat milk.

Calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body. The blood calcium level may be normal even in individuals who do not get enough calcium in the diet. And to provide adequate calcium for the muscles and heart, the body will utilize calcium from the bone, reducing bone density. Therefore, it is essential to discuss your calcium needs with your physician to ensure you consume (through food, fortified foods, and supplements) the optimal levels of calcium needed.

Cooper Complete Calcium Citrate supplement is designed to be taken in conjunction with one of the Cooper Complete multivitamins, which already includes desirable levels of magnesium and vitamin D. For optimal absorption, Calcium Citrate supplements should be taken on an empty stomach first thing in the morning and last thing at night so they do not compete with calcium consumed through diet.

As a dietary supplement, adults take two (2) tablets daily or as directed by their physician or health care professional. 120 tablets per bottle. Vanilla-flavored easy swallow coating.

Cooper Complete products are verified, and lot tested. I take Cooper Complete supplements because I trust Dr. Cooper. Before Cooper Complete, I never knew which vitamins to take. I can work out at a higher level than I ever thought possible and I hardly ever get sick.

One of my greatest test results is that my BMD (bone mineral density) in my spine has increased over the past two years, and in my hip, there has been no statistically significant decrease. I credit this to the Cooper Complete Calcium Citrate and Cooper Complete Vitamin D3 supplements, with weight-bearing, resistance and strength-building exercises. I work very hard to avoid bone loss, although I know some loss is inevitable with age. Of course, I do not, nor have I ever, taken any medications for bones!!
